Specialized sine wave inverter for forklifts (including battery, voltmeter, charging connector for complete set)
I. What is a pure sine wave inverter
Convert the forklift's DC battery (24V/48V) into 220V AC electricity, with a waveform identical to that of the mains power supply, which is called a pure sine wave; it differs from inferior modified sine waves and does not damage motors, precision instruments, or digital display equipment.
Suitable for extracting power from the electric battery of electric forklifts, providing power for electric drills, computers, lighting fixtures, and small tools.
II. Core difference from modified sine wave
Pure sine wave (recommended for forklifts)
The waveform is smooth without sharp peaks. It can be equipped with: motors, water pumps, chargers, digital voltmeters, precision electronics, induction loads; it has low noise and low heat generation, and does not damage batteries or equipment.
Corrected sine wave (not recommended for forklift use)
Square wave distortion, accompanied by motor vibration, fluctuation in digital display instrument, severe heating of the charger, and long-term use will damage the battery.
III. Common Voltage Specifications for Forklifts
The batteries of forklifts are available in 24V and 48V. The inverter must correspond to the battery voltage and cannot be mixed:
24V pure sine wave inverter (most commonly used for 1.5/2 ton electric forklifts)
Input DC20–30V, compatible with 24V lead-acid batteries; low-voltage protection at 21V, consistent with the low-battery alarm value of the forklift voltmeter.
48V Pure Sine Wave Inverter (for 3-ton Heavy Forklift, Lithium Battery Pallet Truck)
Input: DC42–60V, Low Voltage Protection: 42V.
IV. Power Selection Formula
Total load power × 1.2 - 1.5 times safety margin to avoid overloading and triggering protection shutdown
Common combinations reference
Lighting, mobile phone charging, small tools: 500W / 1000W
Electric drills, small water pumps: 1500W - 2000W
Cutting machines, high-power equipment: Above 3000W, larger Anderson connectors are required.
Example: For a 24V forklift equipped with 800W tools, choose a 1200W pure sine wave inverter.
V. Wiring Scheme (in conjunction with forklift connectors and digital voltmeter)
Power off operation: Connect the digital voltmeter in parallel to the battery terminal to monitor the DC voltage in real time;
The inverter has a thick red positive terminal and a thick black negative terminal. Connect them directly to the battery terminals.
If it is frequently disassembled and assembled, install the Anderson SB120A connector to facilitate disconnection and prevent long-term connection from causing overheating.
The inverter is equipped with low-voltage protection: when the voltage drops below the set value, it will automatically shut down to prevent the battery from being severely depleted.
The 220V socket at the output end is connected to the electrical devices.
VI. Core Protection Function (Essential for Forklift Operation)
Low Voltage Protection: If the battery runs out of power, the machine will automatically shut down to prevent the battery from being damaged.
Overvoltage protection: When the voltage rises during charging, the inverter will not be damaged.
Overload, short circuit, and overheating protection;
Reverse connection protection: Reversing the positive and negative terminals will not cause immediate damage (models with high power come with fuses).
VII. Usage Notes (Special Environmental Conditions for Forklifts)
Ventilation at installation location: The driver's cab of the forklift is sealed, and the inverter has poor heat dissipation, which may lead to overheating protection.
Bolded text: For power ratings above 1000W, it is recommended to use at least 6 square copper wires. The terminals should be tightly pressed. Otherwise, when lifting the load, the voltage will drop significantly and the voltage meter readings will fluctuate.
Prohibit simultaneous high-power operation of the charger and the intelligent charger: When charging, if there is high-power inverter at the same time, the currents will be superimposed and the connector is prone to overheat.
Do not use lead-acid batteries for long periods of inverter operation. Once used up, replenish the charge promptly with an intelligent charger.
For lithium battery forklifts, it is recommended to choose inverters with adjustable low-voltage settings, which should be matched with the lithium battery cut-off voltage.
VIII. Sample of Complete Set of Accessories (24V Forklift)
Battery Monitoring: Digital Voltage Meter with DC12–30V Range
Power connection plug: SB120A Anderson connector
Charging equipment: 24V three-stage intelligent charger
Inverter power supply: 24V 1000W pure sine wave inverter
IX. Common Fault Phenomena
As soon as the load is connected, the inverter immediately triggers protection and the voltage displayed on the voltmeter drops sharply → The cable is too thin / The connector is not properly connected;
The digital display instrument is flashing and the tools are shaking → Use the incorrect correction sine wave inverter, and replace it with a genuine sine wave.
The inverter frequently shuts down due to high temperatures → Poor ventilation during installation and incorrect power selection.
